Ah, finally a trend I can get behind! According to a press release issued today, large numbers of women are choosing alternative ways to prepare for childbirth and labor, and prenatal yoga is one of them. In San Diego, California, prenatal yoga instructors report a 50% increase in class attendance over the past three years. Read more about the prenatal yoga trend as well as other pregnancy and birth trends here.
There are some excellent prenatal yoga DVDs on the market. The stork won't deliver them, but Amazon.com will:
And for yogi moms and moms-to-be, Yoga Journal offers a variety of info on the topic of prenatal yoga, mindful parenting, and many other family topics. Click here to check it out.
Now I'm not a mom or a mom-to-be, but you never know what the future may hold. If the mom bug bites, you can be sure that I'll practice yoga throughout my pregnancy and participate in plenty of mommy and me yoga classes!
Sending love to all the moms and moms-to-be out there!
Namaste!

I heard that some 15 million people now attend yoga classes compared to just 11 million 3 years ago. Talk about a growing trend indeed!

Great job! This one is an instant classic! The physical and psychological aspects can’t be separated. For most of women labour is a time of apprehension of fear and agony. Thanks for your info.

I think it’s great. If more people knew about how to get involved, I’m sure they would. I’ll be passing this information on to friends and associates.
